Autumn Cottage

Autumn Cottage is not as old as it looks.  It has been built to look old but has all the old features of a cranky old tumble down cottage but with all the conveniences of modern living with underfloor heating, efficient insulation and a built in vacuum system and a rather marvelous security alarm..  It has old oak beams, 2 brick inglenook fireplaces with wood burning stoves an arga cooker and  old flag stones in the kitchen.  It was lovely when we moved in but it lacked the warmth and personal touch.  We intended to put that personal touch on the place last year but with our bad year the cottage seemed to get put to the back of our minds.  The loss of Lizzy our dog in December 2010 and the arrival of our new puppy from a rescue centre took our minds off  our troubles but sent our beautiful cottage into a blur of dog proofed rooms covered with protective plastic to save our cream carpets.  The motivation to keep our cottage tidy just evaporated as no matter how tidy it was it always looked a mess!

My mum and my sisters could see how unhappy I was and gathered an army of helpers to resurrect from the heap of tatty looking floor covering our once pristine cottage.   So now we have a tidy cottage but not a homely one....and this is where my journey begins.  I am more positive about my life and this has now given me the kick start I needed to get the passion and love back into my home.

And now for the Photos of the messy Autumn Cottage....hmmmn...this is the bit I don't like.

Sorry....I'm stopping it there. I just can't bear to show any more pictures.   My first room I am renovating is the smallest, the downstairs toilet. (I will post a before and after photo) I now have a couple of weeks off work which will give me the time to get going.   X
